Factory-finished fiberglass doors come pre-sealed. However, if you choose a custom or DIY finish, you must properly seal the door with weather-resistant paint, or stain to protect against moisture and UV damage.

• R-value measures insulation—the higher the number, the better the door resists heat loss.
• U-value measures heat transfer—the lower the number, the better.
